Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-22-16 "SCREELING"

SCREELING =  SCREECHING + WHEELS

The neighborhood party ended with gunshots being fired. Apparently, an unwanted guest showed up.  We watched as people poured down the street, some carrying those too drunk to walk, getting into their cars trying to get away as fast as possible.  I watched in disbelief as this drama unfolded and said:

"There they go as fast as they can, screeling!"

Like watching a movie!

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-10-16 "CRUFF"

CRUFF = CRAP + STUFF

Looking over the floor of the basement after my grandson's busy day of play, my son-in-law said:

"Look at all this cuff!"

The questions--Clean it up? Let it go?

Life is short--let it go--for today.

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-09-16 "LARDWORK"

LARDWORK = LAWN + YARDWORK

My son-in-law had just finished maintenance of the front and back yards of their new home and said to my daughter:

"Well that's a good four hours of lardwork done."

A job well done, too!

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-08-16 "GARN"

GARN = GOSH + DARN

I noticed some threads hanging from my work shirt that the manufacturer didn't trim.  I was going to cut them off before leaving the house but got distracted.   I was getting in the car and looking down I noticed I hadn't trimmed the threads and said:

"Oh my garn!"

I just took care of it when I got to work.

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-04-16 "SPANTACULOUS"

SPANTACULOUS = SPECTACULAR + FANTASTIC + FABULOUS

My soon-to-be 4-year-old grandson and I were building a castle with his Mega Bloks.  After we were finished, he said:

"Look, Meemaw!  Our castle is spantaculous!"

My grandson is pretty spantaculous for coming up with such a spantaculous Scrabulary word!!

Wishing everyone in America a spantaculous 4th of July!!!

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-03-16 "DRAFTING"

DRAFTING = DRIFTING + WAFTING

An ordinary word is new again the Scrabulary way!!!!

Last night we and a few of our neighbors were setting off fireworks (albeit a couple days early). The gentle breeze took the smoke away from where we were sitting.  Swuvie said:

 "Glad there's no smoke drafting in our yard."

We will be on the deck at Swuvie's house tonight watching the fireworks go off at Sky Sox Stadium.

Fireworks Fun!!

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 07-02-16 "NEWDLINES"

NEWDLINES = NEWS + HEADLINES

I was watching a show on Amazon called "Suits".  The characters Harvey and Louis were working a particularly difficult case.  While each of them was out "jogging" the streets of New York, they stopped to read newspaper headlines which caught them off guard. I said:

"Uh oh!  The newdlines must be alarming!"

Binge watching,
