VANOLA = VANILLA + GRANOLA

Having tasted freeze-dried strawberries, Swuvie said:

"These freeze-dried strawberries would be great with vanola."

Sounds delicious as a snack by the handful or in a bowl covered with coconut milk.

Yuuummm!

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 08-29-15 "INDIVADUAL"

INDIVADUAL = INDIVIDUAL + VALUE

Swuvie's conference speakers were on a Scrabulary roll!  The master of ceremonies was introducing team leaders who were going to share a particular "value" to which the company adheres that had special meaning to that leader.  The Master of Ceremonies said:

"Each of the ladies will share the company's indivadual that means most to her."

Company pride.

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 08-23-15 "YARN"

YARN = YARD + LAWN

A fiber used for knitting or crocheting? Nope.  An interesting story? Nope.
Swuvie is selling her house and was discussing its features with her realtor.  They were looking over the weed-free landscape with a nicely trimmed lawn and Swuvie said:

"It's a big deal for buyers to see a finished yarn."

Great home, great buy!

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 08/21/15 "QUEAMISH"

QUEAMISH = QUEASY + SQUEAMISH

A couple of weeks ago, my co-worker joyfully announced that she was pregnant.   She was experiencing a particularly upset-stomach-day.  In the afternoon, when asked how she was feeling, she said:

"I'm still feeling a little queamish."

That morning, noon and night sickness is miserable,

Scrabulary Word of the Day - 08-08-15 "METAVIVORS"

METAVIVORS = METASTATIC CANCER + SURVIVORS

I am going to break one Scrabulary rule and allow a word that is a deliberate, not accidental or spoken in conversation combination of two words.  This is in honor of my son-in-law's mom who is battling metastatic cancer.  I am in awe of this woman--of her courage, her strength, her outlook and her humor.  She said in her last blog post on 08/04/15:

"Because of all the new therapies, cancer is no longer a scenario of being either 'cured' or 'dying'.  More and more, it is being treated as a 'chronic condition' of flare-ups and setbacks, so that we must keep our bodies in as good a condition as possible during stable periods so we can better withstand the next 'trip to the rodeo.'"[chemotherapy]  They've even coined a name for us.  They call us "Metavivors." AKA Surviving with Mets."

You are an inspiration to those of us who know you and/or read your blog, Dixie.  Thoughts and prayers are with you.
